Introduction to Kundalini Yoga with Lori Sander and Ramaa Krishnan

Kundalini Yoga is a devotional practice that combines asana (posture), intention, movement, breathwork, visualization, and chanting to create an uplifting spiritual regimen that brings about deep transformation by raising consciousness. These practices, which Ramaa was initiated into in the year 2000, come from the ancient yogic traditions of India.  Lori Sander, an adept in Hatha Yoga, has been teaching at Full Bloomed Lotus right from its inception in 2006. She will bring her passion for alignment and physical presence to partner with Ramaa as they teach you a series of elementary "Kriyas" (exercises) that are designed to open up and create space in the body-mind leading to greater possibilities for health and well-being. Each week's class will build on the earlier one and at the conclusion of the course the student will have a Sadhana to take into her/his private spiritual practice at home. Graduates from the program will be offered a chance to participate in a weekly group practice that will be offered at the end of the course.

Awaken the energy centers in the body with “Intention-focused yoga”. This mindful practice explores specific asanas to embody the intention of the day.  This class is alignment oriented and strives to take the focus from the outside…to the inside. Monday’s class concludes with a relaxing meditative reflection.

Our weekly class offers an introspective philosophy for the mind, body and spirit to work together. Breath, intention and focus are used for the body to receive the complete benefit of the practice.

Our yoga teacher, Lori Sander, sees yoga as a “work-in, not a work-out,” meaning the practice is an instrument to calm the mind and energize the entire system, and not just a means to tire oneself out.

Class Fee is $20 payable at the door. 10-pass available for $170. Passes available to purchase online or studio.

Lori also offers small group appointments and individual sessions as well. Please contact her directly for more information at

ABOUT LORI...Lori’s training includes “Yoga for the Special Child”, Therapeutic Yoga, and a personal practice of over 25 years. Lori continues to study with Gabriel Halpern at the Yoga Circle in Chicago. She spends most of her time teaching children of all abilities and varying therapeutic needs. After spending years focusing on the physical intensity of the poses, her personal practice has evolved into greater awareness and appreciation of slowing down and working with basic poses in an extremely mindful way.

In a busy life, there is almost nothing I look forward to more than Lori’s healing, energizing yoga classes at Full Bloomed Lotus (FBL), except perhaps when they are/were followed by half an hour of heavenly guided meditation by owner, Ramaa Krishnan. To call these classes “yoga” is an understatement. Lori’s teachings are informed by years of ongoing study of various types of yoga, pilates, postural realignment and physical therapies. Lori’s knowledge is simultaneously deep and endless. She even endured the rigors of Anatomy Lab to enhance her understanding of the human body, and her students are the primary beneficiaries. Lori generously customizes exercises to help individual class participants through any physical challenges they may be facing on a given day. Miraculously, everyone benefits. I’ve been privileged to attend Lori’s classes at FBL for years. It’s never the same class twice, but always a highlight of my week. Hope it never ends!  Namaste,  CG

Lori's yoga class is inspiring.  She's a wonderful committed teacher who pays attention to each student and makes adjustments to the practice as needed.  She is always supportive and encouraging.  In particular, she has given me a greater appreciation for alignment and balance both in yoga class and in my life.  Thank you Lori!  - RD

This is a terrific therapeutic yoga class that includes students of all levels of expertise. Lori is a very warm and friendly teacher, and extremely knowledgeable. She integrates her background in yoga with studies in the areas of anatomy and body alignment. One aspect I like is that she give us specific suggestions on ways of using core strength in everyday activities as well as during yoga practice. I always leave class feeling taller and stronger!   RWE

Monday morning therapeutic yoga with Lori is the only way I like to start my week. Lori customizes the poses to suit our weekly needs.  I always leave the class feeling refreshed, renewed and invigorated! I've been a regular member of this class for  over 9 years and I hate to miss it!  GW

Lori believes that yoga should make us feel good.  We should feel good when we are in the poses and when we leave class.  I have always found this to be true in Lori's classes.  And, if some part of our body does not feel good in a pose, Lori instantly offers an adaptatoin that fixes it.  She continuously learns about our bodies and yoga, always bringing new insights to our practice. No two classes are the same, but all are wonderful.  She is serious about doing poses correctly but without intensity.  JSJ

Lori's Intentional Yoga class is just that, intentional and deeply-supportive.  Lori mixes her years of practice and wisdon with a kind of humor and self-awareness/self-acceptance that is both palpable and contagious.  Love her and love her class!  KK

The opportunities for meditation and waking up are everywhere. The ancient Qigong masters understood that for many the gate to open hearted living was by healing physical symptoms and illness. They also understood that learning to use energy wisely was the source of wellness and spiritual development.

This remains true. Our bodies bear the burden of our stressful lives and we suffer headaches, sluggish digestion, excess weight, brain fog, insomnia, joint pain, difficult menopause and more. We are blocked from living our highest potential when our bodies are blocked.

In this 6-week program, you’ll learn authentic Taoist Wu Ming Qigong practices that will build your energy foundation and create inner balance that you can use for your whole life. In 6 weeks, you can experience healing on the mind and body level and open to the wisdom of your spirit.

This class is open to those for whom this is a first experience of the Dragon’s Way and if you have taken the class before it will help you go deeper in your healing journey.
