About the Gita:
The Bhagavad Gita, or simply the Gita, is a 700-verse Hindu scripture that is part of the Indian epic Mahabharata, the longest one ever written. The epic tells the story of a struggle between two branches of a single ruling family, over a fertile and wealthy kingdom, ending in an awesome battle. The Gita recounts a dialogue on the battlefield between Arjuna and his charioteer and trusted advisor, Krishna, who turns out to be a worldly incarnation of the Hindu God Vishnu. Their conversations cover topics like life, death, faith, love and duty to name a few. Commonly dated to the second century BCE, the Gita has inspired people for centuries since.
